KELLIHER, MICHAEL Patrick of Norwood, Duxbury and Florida passed away suddenly on July 10, 2023 at the age of 93. Beloved husband of the late Chrissie (Hanley) Kelliher. Devoted father of Mary K Guiney and her husband Steven of Plymouth, Kathleen Kelliher and her husband Philip Irvine of London, England, Tricia Algieri and her husband Ron of Florida, Eileen Kelliher of Duxbury and the late Brendan Kelliher. Cherished grandfather of 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Longtime companion of Maureen Meany of Chestnut Hill. Son of the late Timothy W. and Bridget (Moynihan) Kelliher. Brother of the late Dan, Andy, Patrick (PJ), Ted, Malachy, Frank, Mary O'Sullivan, Ciss O'Connor, Nora Kirby and Theresa O'Connor. Michael was born in County Kerry, Ireland and emigrated to America in 1951 at the age of 20. Eight members of the Kelliher family emigrated to Norwood and provided lifelong support to each other as they built new lives as Americans. He met his wife Chrissie at a dance at the Hibernian Hall in Dudley Square in Roxbury.
He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University and spent his career as an engineer at GTE/Sylvania. He was an enthusiastic ball room dancer and loved playing shuffleboard and cornhole. In the summer, he enjoyed playing horse-shoes, especially during regular large Sunday gatherings at his cottage in Duxbury. Mike used his carpentry and engineering skills to undertake many home improvement projects for family and friends. He had a project every day until the day he died. He was a member of the Irish Social Club in West Roxbury and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, July 18,2023 from 4-8pm at the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home, 1248 Washington St. Norwood, MA. Funeral from the Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at 9:30am followed by a funeral mass at 10:30am at St. Timothy Parish Norwood, MA. Burial will be at the Highland Cemetery in Norwood following the funeral mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to American Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice.
