MIKAELA M. MCDONOUGH of Wrentham passed away on July 27, 2025 due to a very rare lung injury at the age of 31. The family would like to thank the MICU 3B at Brigham and Women’s Boston for all their loving care they gave to Mikaela during her illness.
Mikaela was the beloved and loving daughter of John M. and Suzanne C. (Boudreau) McDonough, and the cherished granddaughter of Geraldine Boudreau, the late Raymond Boudreau, and the late Christopher and Mary McDonough. She is also survived by many cousins, friends, work colleagues, and her beloved cat Cashew and dog Lola.
Mikaela was a varsity athlete and 2012 graduate of Ursuline Academy. She then went on to graduate from Fairfield University as the class of 2016, earning 2 degrees: one in Biology with a concentration in Molecular Biology and a Psychology degree with a concentration in Neuroscience. Mikaela was deeply passionate and vocal about organ donation, and her family takes great pride in the final, selfless gift she gave to others.
Mikaela was altruistic, loyal, and unbelievably caring to a fault by those lucky enough to be loved by her. She was a fierce supporter of animal and human rights and was passionate about helping others.
Mikaela started her career in the lymphoma group at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in 2016. During that time, she did many jobs, held many titles, spearheaded dozens of critical projects, and helped countless people. Her titles cannot capture what an integral part of the group she was. Everything in the group, from the most minor projects to the most important efforts, bears her indelible mark. To her colleagues, she was everywhere, she knew everything, and she could do anything. She became the heart and the nerve center of the group. She was the one through whom everything passed, she was the one whom everyone knew, and she was the one everyone loved. Mikaela was incredibly passionate about her work so in lieu of flowers, we ask that you contribute to Mikaela’s memorial fundraiser at
