Nancy M. (Bresnahan) Egan

May 22, 1936 — November 28, 2023

On November 28, 2023, Nancy M. (Bresnahan) Egan peacefully decided to finally withdraw from her fierce twenty-four-year battle with Parkinson's Disease. She was 87 years old. She's now free from the prison that was her body and has joined her mom and dad Mary and Jerry Bresnahan, sisters Fay Callero and Sally Wright, and she's dancing once again with the love of her life and husband of fifty years, Larry.

Born in Medford, MA in 1936, Nancy moved to Norwood in 1949 and graduated Norwood High School in 1954. Hers was a life lived with strength and grace. Known for her quick wit and sharp tongue, it was her generosity which knew no bounds as she cared for her family, friends, and the community around her. Whether it was running girl scout troops, being "volunteered" for countless school field trips, to being president of the Norwood Parents Music Association and long-time treasurer of the Norwood High School Scholarship Foundation which awarded tens of thousands of dollars to deserving students during her tenure, Nancy gave of herself willingly and tirelessly. It was this advocacy which made the lives of those around her exceedingly better.

In her greatest heroic act, she turned that determination and advocacy inward in her efforts to combat the insidious Parkinson's Disease. She sought out the latest news, drugs, and advancements to beat back the slow, inevitable decline PD brings. Courageously fighting for her inclusion for a new surgical procedure, Deep Brain Stimulation, in 2012. You can learn more about PD and Nancy's battle by reading Brain Storms by Jon Palfreman. Scientific American/Farrar, Straus, Giroux (2015).

She leaves her children Lauren Egan of Franklin, Lyn (Dave) Short of Norwood, Larry (Cori) Egan Jr. of Marstons Mills, and her "Fourth Daughter" Kathy (Gary Forrister) King of Centerville well-armed with her charm, wit, and intelligence she imparted to them as they continue on with her in their hearts and thoughts. Nancy also leaves her hopes and dreams within the apples of her eye: Her three grandchildren Kelly (Jonny) Bigos, Kristen (fiancé Joe Gareri) Short, and Matthew Chivallati, and two great-grandchildren Braelynn and Cameron Bigos. Nancy is also survived by her sister Judy Mawn of Orleans, and brother Jerry (Ellen) Bresnahan Jr. of Needham, and numerous nieces and nephews. Nancy's children wish to thank her devoted team of health care workers who did their utmost to help Nancy remain in her beloved home for as long as possible becoming family along the way.

Please join the family as they celebrate the life of Nancy with a funeral from the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home, 1248 Washington St., Norwood, on Saturday, Dec. 16, at 9:00AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Catherine of Siena Church at 10:00AM. Visiting Hours are in the funeral home on Friday, Dec. 15, from 3:00-7:00pm. Interment to follow at a later date. Those attending are strongly encouraged to forego the dark, traditional colors of mourning. Instead, please dress in the style in which she lived, brightly and colorfully. We're not mourning her loss, we're celebrating her life!
