Nicholas A. DiMartino, age 96, a longtime resident of Norwood, passed away at home on Thursday, October 16th, 2025.
Born on July 28th, 1929, in Dedham, Nick was one of five children born to Italian immigrants, Frank and Vitina (Armogida) DiMartino, Nicholas attended Dedham High School and was a proud member of the Class of 1947. After his education, he served his country with honor in the United States Air Force, an experience that instilled in him a lifelong sense of duty. Following his tine in the Air Force, Nick continued his sprit of service, returning home and devoted years to taking care of his parents.
Nicholas worked for many years as a Security Officer. His commitment to safety and vigilance was demonstrated during his time at Norwood Hospital and later at Bank of America. In his earlier years he worked at Stop and Shop.
Having a wide variety of hobbies and interests, Nicholas found joy and fulfillment in simple pleasures and hands-on activities. He was a member at the Norwood VFW, where he had camaraderie with fellow veterans. He took immense pride in his yard, always ensuring it was well-kept. Nicholas was known for his liking for fixing things and had a particular talent for woodworking and tinkering with clocks. His days were often capped off with the thrill of a daily scratch ticket, one of his little delights.
Nicholas is survived by his cherished siblings: Marie Woods, and her husband Roger, and his brother, Frank DiMartino, Jr., and wife Marie. He also leaves behind his loving many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Nicholas was preceded in passing by his sister, Frances Montesano, and her husband Anthony, as well as his brother, Domenic DiMartino, and his wife Carol.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend Visitation on TUESDAY, October 21, 2025, from 9:00 am until 10:30 am in the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home, 1248 Washington Street, Norwood, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial for the repose of his soul, which will be celebrated at 11:00 am in St. Catherine of Siena Parish, 547 Washington Street, Norwood.
Nicholas will be laid to rest in Highland Cemetery, 320 Winter Street, Norwood, where US Air Force Honors will take place in recognition of his faithful and honorable service.
