Peter J Gearty, Sr, 66, originally of Norwood, MA passed away peacefully on May 16, 2023 after battling cancer.
Peter was born on June 15, 1956 to the late Herbert and Margaret (nee Sparrow) Gearty. Peter was a 1975 graduate of Blue Hills Regional Technical High school where his area of study was Machine Shop. Upon graduation, Peter continued to work in his field at several organizations throughout the years.
Peter was an active member of the Alcoholics Anonymous community, recently celebrating 33 years of sobriety. He touched many lives over the years and helped countless people on their sober journey. Peter was a Mason, a proud member of the Azure Lodge located in Walpole, MA. He enjoyed his time serving both communities and spoke highly of each.
Peter enjoyed reminiscing about his younger days of four-square dancing, bowling league and hockey team. He loved spending time at a family home in Maine swimming, ice skating and playing cards. Peter spent many summers camping with his children and could sit out at a campfire until dawn. Anytime he was at a wedding or social function with a dance floor, you could find him leading the Chicken Dance or Electric Slide. Peter lived in the moment during the last month at the assisted living where they lovingly referred to him as the "Mayor". He enjoyed singing to the music, playing bingo and crafting. His children would like to thank the staff at All American Assisted Living in Wrentham MA for their endless attention to detail, fun activities, support and individualized care and Hope Health Hospice for their kindness and caring.
Peter was predeceased by his brother Joseph Gearty.
