Phyllis M. (Helvitz) Mitchell

MITCHELL, PHYLLIS, M. (Helvitz) of Norwood formerly of Dedham and W. Roxbury passed away surrounded by her loving family on November 27, 2022 at the age of 83. Beloved and adoring wife of Donald F. Mitchell. Loving mother of 2, Dennis P. Mitchell and his wife Nadine of Canton and Pamela F. Willis and her husband Jon of Norwood. Sister of Gerard "Gerry" Helvitz of Dedham, Susan Peluso of Walpole, Johnny Helvitz of NV and the late Marianne Buckley. Cherished grandmother of Sean, Brianna, Evan, Brendan and Kyle. Daughter of the late Francis and Alice (Winston) Helvitz. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Phyllis grew up in West Roxbury and graduated from Hyde Park High School in 1957. She went on to earn a degree later in life from Boston College in 2000. Phyllis was also a member of the Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corp of Boston. Phyllis met her husband of 61 years in 1955. Their marriage was a true love story. They began their adventure in Los Angeles then eventually ended up in Dedham to start a family and moved to Norwood where they have been for the past 40 years. Phyllis and Donny enjoyed many years of traveling to Hawaii, being their special place together. Phyllis is much loved by many family and friends and took great pride in being a Mother and a Nana. We know we can't have you forever but are happy knowing that the angels finally have you back. Goodbye to a wonderful woman and beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Funeral from the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home 1248 Washington St. Norwood, Friday December 2, 2022 at 9am followed by a funeral mass at 10am at St. Oscar Romero Parish, Canton, MA. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2022 from 4-6pm. Burial will be at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton, MA.
