Raymond E. Daniels, of Norwood died peacefully at his home on Saturday evening, May 4, 2024 at 97 years old.
The son of the late John K, and Caroline (Adamcyzk) Daniels, he was born, raised, and educated in Norwood, graduating from Boston Trade High School in 1948.
Ray’s happiest times were spent with family and friends at the family cottage on Moose Pond in Maine. He and his late wife Peg (Margaret) were happily married for 72 years. They loved to travel, enjoyed polka dancing and together avidly followed all the Boston sports teams. He was a founding and lifetime member of the Walpole Sportsman’s Association.
Mr. Daniels was employed as a salesman for the Sunshine Biscuit Company for over 34 years before his retirement in 1992. After retirement, Ray kept busy by golfing, snowmobiling, water skiing, bowling, dirt bike riding, and repairing anything with an engine.
A veteran of World War II, Ray volunteered and served in the Navy as a Coxswain aboard the USS Bradley County (LST 400) and the USS Calaveras County (LST 516).
Ray is survived by his children Carol M. Daniels of Norwood, Edward G. Daniels and his wife Bernadette of Canton and Stephen Daniels and his wife Lynn of Foxboro. He was very proud of his grandchildren Kevin Daniels of Norfolk, Timothy Daniels and his wife Jessie and his great-grandsons, twins Bodie and Mack Daniels, of North Attleboro, and several loving nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late William B. Daniels and Elsie J. White.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday morning, May 10th at 11AM at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Washington Stret, Norwood. Visiting hours will be prior to services from 9 -10:30AM at the Kraw-Kornack Funeral home, 1248 Washington Street, Norwood. Interment will be at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
