Rita A. (Amici) Coakley

COAKLEY, Rita A. (Amici) (affectionately known as "Nana" or "Mrs C" ), 72, of Norwood, Massachusetts, died at Brigham & Women's Hospital on Monday, July 20, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. Rita was a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to so many. Born on March 18, 1948, in Norwood, MA she was the only daughter of Almando and Eleanor (Gulla) Amici. She married Patrick D. Coakley in Norwood, MA on May 16 , 1971, and together they raised two children. She was predeceased by her parents and her nephew Sean Coakley. Rita is survived by her husband: Patrick Coakley of Norwood, as well as her children: Patricia Edgehille (Coakley) and her husband Daniel Edgehille of Franklin; Matthew P. Coakley and his wife Julianna Coakley (Roberts) of Norwood, a nephew Brad Coakley of Lakeville, as well as her 5 grandchildren, Danny Edgehille, Jr., Faith Edgehille, Richie Edgehille, James Patrick Coakley, and Josephine Coakley. Rita worked as a bookkeeper for GTE/Sylvania, Fishline Seafoods, Mercer and Putnam Investments. She was passionate about her family especially her grandchildren. Everyone that met Rita knew her for her kind heart, sense of humor and strength of character. It is with heavy hearts, we say goodbye. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday July 23, 2020 from 4-7pm. A funeral mass will be held on Friday July 24, 2020 11am at St. Catherine of Siena Church Norwood.
