Robert E. “Bob” Bayha, passed away on June 5, 2025, at the age of 80 at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge.
Born the only child to George E. Bayha and Rose (Ellis) Bayha in Queens, New York, Bob grew up among the stoops and subways of New York City. An athlete, Bob was scouted by the New York Yankees and was a Golden Gloves boxer.
Bob was a proud member of the Teamsters as a route driver in the bakery business. An opportunity to drive for Entenmann’s brought him to relocate to Massachusetts and where he made lifelong friends.
He was a loyal fan of the New York Jets and cheered them on with friends and family each season. On summer evenings, he found a different kind of joy in Cape Cod Baseball League games, especially cheering on the Bourne Braves. There were Sunday morning coffees with friends, and sideline cheers at his grandchildren’s sporting events.
Bob leaves behind his children—Rob J. Bayha, Daniel E. Bayha, and Jennifer Danielson. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Robert K. Bayha and Carolyn Rose Bayha, who knew him not just as “Papa,” but as their biggest fan.
Services for Bob will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Bob’s memory to the American Heart Association directly at:
