Bob was also predeceased by his former wife, Carolann “Candi” Maher, the cherished mother of his children, Robert W. DeRose (and his partner Olivia Robinson of Maynard) and Robin M. Affectionately known as “Pops,” Bob was a proud and loving grandfather to Grace and Harper Tucceri. He recently became “Grampy” to his youngest granddaughter, Mila, born this past September to Michael and Jessica.
Born and raised in Norwood, Bob cherished his roots and the friendships he made as a member of the Norwood Senior High School Class of 1964. In recent years, he enthusiastically helped organize class reunions and meet-ups, a testament to his lifelong connections. Bob was a proud United States Air Force Veteran, serving stateside where his important work with computers provided crucial support to fellow service members.
Family and service to others was the center of Bob's world. He especially treasured his daily lunches with his beloved 101-year-old mother, a cherished ritual. Beyond his devotion to family, Bob had a zest for life and enjoyed sharing stories of his many adventures. His passions included skiing, skating, and his unwavering support for all of Boston's sports teams. A lover of music, he fondly recalled the time during his youth playing guitar in the bands Johnny and the Twisters and later The Velvetones. Bob also enjoyed travel, with annual trips to Gloucester and Maryland holding a special place in his heart.
Known for his warm and sociable nature, Bob thrived in the company of others. He was a generous host, always ready to welcome friends and family around his pool. An excellent cook, one way he shared his generosity was through his delicious food. Following his retirement, Bob found fulfillment in transporting students with special needs to school in Norwood. He was deeply committed to his students and their families, as well as his colleagues, making a meaningful difference in their lives.
