Robert H. Ivatts

IVATTS, ROBERT H. a lifelong resident of Norwood passed away on February 20, 2019 at the age of 88. Beloved husband of Helen P. (Alty) Ivatts. Devoted father of Linda A. Smart and her husband Harold of Portsmouth, RI, Robert H. Ivatts Jr. and his wife Patricia of Walpole, Timothy W. Ivatts and his wife Cheryl of Walpole, Scott F. Ivatts of Norwood and Paul T. Ivatts of Norwood. Brother of the late Marion Maher, William Ivatts and Frances Buccilli. Cherished grandfather of 13 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Robert was a graduate of Norwood High School. After serving in the Navy, Bob was employed as a pipe fitter at Bird & Son in East Walpole. A career change brought him back to serving the Town of Norwood in which Bob took great pride in. He retired as superintendent for the Norwood Recreation Department. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed wood working and was very involved in Norwood Little League. He was an active member in various committees in the Town of Norwood. Bob was a member of the Norwood VFW, Norwood Elks and the Bristol RI Yacht Club. Bob was also a Norwood Town Meeting Member. In the summer months you would find Bob and his wife Helen of 63 years with family and friends on Hog Island. Bob was always ready with a helping hand with many activities on the island, especially running Field Day and the water company. His heart will always be with his family in his cottage by the sea! Funeral from the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home 1248 Washington St. Norwood, Tuesday Feb. 26, 2019 at 9am followed by a funeral mass at 10am in St. Mary's Church E. Walpole, MA. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, Feb. 25, 2019 from 4-8pm. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery with Military Honors. He was a US Navy Korean War Veteran. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to the Norwood VFW Post #2452, 193 Dean St. Norwood, MA 02062.
