Powers, Robert. G, of Franklin, formerly of Norwood and Wrentham, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2024, with his children and sister by his side. Robert courageously battled Multiple Sclerosis for many years. He is predeceased by his parents, John F. and Judith A. (McNally) Powers. Robert leaves behind his loving children, Kristina P. Michel and her husband Derek of North Attleboro, and Robert W. Powers of Attleboro, and his three cherished grandchildren, Tyler, Amber, and Lila Michel, his brother John J. Powers of Norwood, brother Michael K. Powers of Norton and his sister Susan M Moreau and her husband Bob of Franklin. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, Godchildren, close friends and his most cherished Aunt Patsy Hart.
Born in Boston on June 6, 1962, Robert was the third of four children of John and Judy Powers of Roxbury, MA. His family moved to Norwood in 1971, where he attended Norwood Public Schools and Blue Hills Regional Technical High School. A dedicated and hard worker, Robert held various jobs in the automotive and aviation industries, spending many years working at Norwood Airport.
Robert was immensely proud of the adults his children had become and cherished their visits, especially spending time with his grandchildren, Tyler, Amber, and Lila. Robert, or Hobbit, to his many friends was faithful to the end. Over the years they had many adventures both good and bad and were always there for each other. One of his favorite activities was ice-fishing with his friends. He also loved to host cookouts, cook for his children and their friends, and he was a master at figuring out mechanical problems on any vehicle or piece of equipment there was. Robert will be remembered for his independence, dedication to his family, generosity, hard work and private nature. He had a heart of gold and was loving, reliable, and always put others above himself. Robert’s character and legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024 from 4-8pm at the Kraw Kornack Funeral Home 1248 Washington St. Norwood, MA. Funeral from the funeral home Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 9am followed by a funeral mass 10am at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Norwood. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, Norwood.
