Roberta Anne Grimes, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on October 20, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was 80 years old. Roberta was born in Norwood, MA on January 15, 1944 to parents Herbert W. and Roberta Oliver. She graduated from Norwood High School in 1962 and went on to attend Burdett Secretarial school. Roberta then started work at Nortronics in Norwood, MA where she met her beloved husband Paul. Longtime residents of Dedham, they later moved to Norton to be closer to their grandchildren.
Roberta lived a life full of love, devotion, and joy, always putting her family at the center of her world.
Her greatest achievement was the family she built and nurtured with her devoted husband, Paul Grimes, to whom she was married for 59 beautiful years. Together, they raised six children, who were the pride and joy of her life: Cheryl Schmidt and her husband Steve of Mansfield Paul Grimes Jr. and his wife Allison of Dedham; Michelle Munroe and her husband Mark of Mansfield; Amy Wainwright of West Roxbury; Julie Ogilvie and her husband Mark of Norton; and Meredith Vento and her wife Ashley of Stoughton. She also cherished her 18 grandchildren and was overjoyed to welcome two great-grandchildren into the family.
Roberta’s happiest moments were spent with her family, whether taking long walks with Paul, cheering on her grandchildren at their sporting events, or hosting lively family gatherings. Her home was always a place of warmth, laughter, and love, where memories were made and cherished. Alongside her family, she had a deep affection for her cat, Henry, whose companionship brought her comfort and joy throughout the years.
Roberta also treasured the lifelong friendships she built through the years. These relationships were a source of support and happiness, and she maintained strong bonds with friends who shared many of life’s milestones with her.
Roberta’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her family, her gentle spirit, and her ability to bring people together. Her friendships, just like her family, were a testament to her kind and loving nature.
Visiting hours will be held Monday October 28 at the Kraw-Kornack funeral home 1248 Washington St. Norwood, MA from 4-7pm. A funeral home service will be at 11am on Tuesday October 29th at the Kraw-Kornack funeral home. The family would like to invite friends and family to Conrad’s restaurant in Walpole following burial services at Highland Cemetery in Norwood.
