Ruth (Cusick) O"Neil

June 26, 1927 — July 16, 2021

Ruth (Cusick) O'Neil of Norwood, MA passed away peacefully in her home on July 16th at the age of 94. She was surrounded by her loving family. Ruth was married to Robert E. O'Neil for 58 years until his death in 2015. Together they had 5 children, Elizabeth LaRosa of Waltham, MA, Susan Kafouse of Walpole, MA, Robert O'Neil (Deceased) of Boston, MA, Marie Jones of Phoenix, AZ, and Janet Willemain of Belchertown, MA. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
She was born in Jamaica Plain in 1927 and graduated from the Boston Public School System. She earned her Bachelor's degree in business from Boston University and spent several years working in a brokerage house on the Boston Stock Exchange. She met the love of her life, Robert, (Bob) at a bean supper at The Neuman Club at Boston College in 1955. The two were married in 1957 and resided in Newton, MA where they raised their family. Ruth went back to school and earned her Master's degree in teaching from Boston State Teaching College in 1966. She taught Title I reading, math, and Kindergarten in the Newton Public School System for 20 years.
She was an avid reader and wrote many free lance articles for various local newspapers. When she and Bob retired they moved to Norwood. They spent summers at their cottage on Baboosic Lake in Amherst, NH, and spent many winters in Sun City Center, FL.
Funeral services provided by Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home in Norwood, MA o Tuesday July 20, 2021. Viewing will be from 9am to 10:30 am with the funeral at St. Catherine's Church in Norwood at 11am. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Norwood.
