Norwood

PHILLIPS, STEPHEN J. of Norwood passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026, at the age of 85. Beloved husband of the late Kathryn A. (Doyle) Phillips. Devoted father of Michael J. Phillips of Norwood and Laurie M. Ryon and her husband Anthony of Hopedale. Loving brother of Diamond Davis of Lynn. Also survived by many cousins, nephews and nieces. Stephen worked at CertainTeed Roofing Company (formerly Bird and Son’s) for 27 years. He retired at age 80 y/o and really enjoyed working with others half his age. He had a nickname there “Skippy” which fits him well. Stephen had a youthful spirit and attributed his great health all these years to living a simple life. He believed in a good diet, exercise, and having God in his heart. He was also the proud owner of his Fresh Royal Jelly business since 1986, “Royal Health United”, which he ran first as a mail order company and then as internet sales. He believed in bee products and took no prescription drugs his whole life. Stephen was a wise man and had many quotes from great philosophers throughout time. “She walks in beauty, like the night of cloudless climes and starry skies” Lord Byron, “Love is an attempt to form a friendship inspired by beauty” Cicero. He loved people and loved sharing stories from all his experiences and could really tell an entertaining story. He had humor and wit and never complained. He loved gardening and planting many evergreen trees and loved collecting elephant figurines. His life was beautiful and he had great independence right up until the end. Now he is reunited with his love of his life Kathryn, married for over 57 years in heaven, and we are all left with the positive attitude and love that Stephen bestowed on us all.

A celebration of Stephen’s life will be held in early Spring. Arrangements by the Kraw Kornack Funeral Home, Norwood, MA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the St. Joseph’s Indian School, www.give.stjo.org
