IN LOVING MEMORY OF

McDonough
February 21, 1965 – March 12, 2026
Visitation
Funeral Mass
St. Catherine of Siena Parish
11:00 am - 12:00 pm (Eastern time)
Timothy J. McDonough, of Norwood, passed away at his home on March 12, 2026, with his beloved son Patrick, his future daughter-in-law Melissa, and his loyal companion Bailey by his side. He was 61 years old and felt he had lived a very full and blessed life.
The cherished son of the late Patrick and Anne McDonough, Tim is survived by his son Patrick McDonough and fiancée Melissa of Norwood, his sisters Katie McDonough, Colleen DiBlasi and her husband Joe both of Norwood, and his brothers Kevin and his wife Maureen of Norwood, Brian and his wife Julie of Boston, Steve and his wife Julie of Norfolk, Joe and his wife Kathy also of Norwood. His dear brother Barry predeceased him in 2024. Additionally, he is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and nephews and an extended family of friends from all walks of life, in particular his “other brother” and childhood best friend Chris Perkins. Just a few weeks ago, Tim held a cooking class with the next generation of McDonoughs to pass on his famous Irish bread recipe. Tim’s life impact was felt by all who came in touch with him, and his legacy will be long lasting.
Tim was born, raised and educated in Norwood, the seventh of eight children and the sixth son. He often remarked how he grew up on “waterfront property on Alandale Parkway and the Hawes Brook”. At 18 years old, while still a senior in high school, Tim ran for his first political office, the Norwood School Committee. His 1983 victory led to his title of youngest elected politician in the country and to a lifetime in politics, service, and philanthropy where he touched the lives of all he ever met. Tim was proud to have served on the Norwood School Committee, then as a Selectman and most recently as Town Assessor in Norwood, with over 41 years of service to the town he loved, a true “townie”.
In his roles as President and a founding member of Circle of Hope and the Norwood Scholarship Committee, his generosity and kindness impacted hundreds of Norwood residents. If anyone had a health issue that led to financial hardship, they knew they could turn to Tim. Anonymously, Tim and the Board members of the Circle of Hope were able to help hundreds of residents in some of the toughest times of their lives. The Norwood Scholarship Foundation where he was President for many years aided many Norwood High School graduates in their secondary educations. Tim himself was a proud Boston College Eagle, a 1987 graduate. His colleagues and friends from both these organizations were lifelong friends.
Tim will mostly be remembered for his twinkling Irish eyes, his beautiful smile, his incredible sense of humor, his kindness and the sincerity and trust he brought to every relationship in his life. He loved his family and friends fiercely and they loved him back in kind.
Visiting hours will be held on WEDNESDAY, March 18, from 4:00pm-7:00pm in the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home, 1248 Washington Street, Norwood.
Tim's Funeral Mass will be celebrated on THURSDAY, March 19, 2026, at 11:00am in St. Catherine of Siena Parish, 547 Washington Street, Norwood. Please go directly to church, there will be no procession from the funeral home.
Tim will be laid to rest in Highland Cemetery, Winter Street, Norwood.
At the request of Tim’s family, PLEASE OMIT FLOWERS. Donations in his memory may be made to the Norwood Circle of Hope Foundation directly at: https://www.pledge.to/donateNorwoodCOH
