Veronica "Anne" (Pitts) Shannon

Veronica Anne (Pitts) Shannon of Norwood, passed away 20 June 2023. Anne was born 9 July 1928 in Boston, MA to Joseph Bernard and Mary Helen (Wilson) Pitts. Anne grew up in Brighton, MA and attended Our Lady of Presentation School and then Katherine Gibbs School in Boston. After marrying Bertrand Shannon in 1953, they moved to Norwood in 1955 where they raised their family. Anne was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Catherine of Siena and Norwood Hospital for many years. She was a member of the Ladies Sodality of our Blessed Mother at St. Catherine's, a longtime volunteer at the polls on voting day, and a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Post 2452 Norwood.
Anne was predeceased by her son Michael (1959) and her husband Bertrand (2008), her brothers Joseph (Margaret) Pitts, Gerald (Beverly) Pitts and a sister-in-law Joanne Pitts. Anne leaves behind a brother, Albert Pitts of Milford, eight children: Diane (Gary) Sheehan of Norwood, Barry (Jacqueline) of Wrentham, Donna (Daniel) Goguen of San Antonio, TX, Barbara (Theodore) Zakrzewski of West Arlington, VT, Kathleen of Norwood, Robert (Jennifer) of Attleboro, Edward of Essex Junction, VT, and James (Rebecca) of Norwood. She also leaves 21 grandchildren: Michael Sheehan, Patricia (William) Brown, Kenneth (Lauren) Sheehan, Eric (Tammy) Rossignol, David (Kimberly) Goguen, Danielle (Josh) Younkin, Diane Goguen; William (Molly) Zakrzewski, Alexandra (Ben) Cohn, Daniel Zakrzewski, Elizabeth (Travis Stevens) Zakrzewski; Jonathan and Michael Thornhill; Kristen (Daniel) O'Connor, Kaitlyn and Makayla Shannon; Patrick, Owen, and Jack Shannon, and Ryan and Matthew O'Connell. Anne was blessed with 12 great-grandchildren; Beatrix Brown, Lucy Sheehan; Jason and Ashley Rossignol, MacKenzie Goguen, Maxwell Younkin; Sloane Zakrzewski, Patrick and Veronica Cohn; Baylie, Logan, and Finn Thornhill. She also leave many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.


Visitation will be held at the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home, 1248 Washington St. Norwood, MA on Monday, 26 June from 4-7pm. Family and friends will gather Tuesday at 10:00 at the funeral home and a funeral mass will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 549 Washington St. Norwood, MA on Tuesday, 27 June at 11:00am. Burial will be held at a later date at St. Joseph's Cemetery, West Roxbury, MA.
