Walter E. Ritchie

RITCHIE, WALTER E. of Norwood passed away on January 27, 2025 at his home, surrounded by his beloved family, after a courageous 3 year battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Jane P. (Trovato) Ritchie. Devoted father of Julie Lannon of RI, Sean Ritchie and his wife Natasha of Canada, John Rooney and his wife Marcieli of Norwood, Christine Lyons and her husband Scott of Norton. He was the brother of 8 siblings. Cherished grandfather of Tia and her husband Jonathan, Nathan, Lindsey, Koen, Mick, Aidan, Maddie, Gavin, Julia and Angelo. Great Grandfather of Ellie and Mila. Son of the late Albert J. and Urith M. (Brode) Ritchie. He also leaves behind stepsons Adam, Ryan, and Jeff. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Bruno Bockorny, Nurse Practitioner Jenna O’Rourke, his friend and oncology nurse Marianne Lynch, and the rest of the Oncology Team at Shapiro 9 BIDMC. Walter was a proud US Army Veteran who served in Vietnam. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025 8:30am-10:30am at the Kraw Kornack Funeral Home 1248 Washington St. Norwood, MA. A funeral will be held following the visitation at 11am at St. Timothy’s Parish, Norwood, MA. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made in his memory to “The Cholangiocarcinoma Research Fund in the Medical Oncology Division at BIDMC” 330 Brookline Avenue, Boston, MA 02215 to support development of new treatment for patients with cholangiocarcinoma.
