William J. Cofsky, of Norwood died peacefully on October 26, 2021 at his home at the age of 81.
Bill was born in Norwood on December 25, 1939 to the late George M. and Beatrice (Bauzis) Cofsky. He was a life long resident of Norwood. Bill graduated from Norwood High School class of 1957.
Bill loved to drive. His love of traveling started when he graduated high school when he drove across the US with his cousin Dicky. He spent decades as a long haul truck driver and was able to drive to all of the contiguous states. In his later years, he drove for United Liquors in Bridgewater where he hauled shipments locally. He put his love of driving to good use by driving on vacation from Calgary to Vancouver. Bill would think nothing of taking off and drive to countless places.
He travelled to Russia and Lithuania in the late 70's where he visited some family in Lithuania. He cruised in Europe where he took a river cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest and then cruised Alaska where he journey from Ketchikan, Denali and Anchorage.
Bill was a huge sports fan who enjoyed watching the Bruins, Red Sox, Celtics, and Patriots. He loved to watch NASCAR and pretty much any sport you could find on tv. Bill was an avid skier who skied into his 70s. He travelled throughout Europe visiting some of the most incredible ski resorts and spent lots years skiing in Maine, New Hampshire and Vail, CO with his life partner, Catherine. Bill served his country as a National Reservist during the Vietnam war and reached the rank of Sgt.
Bill was very generous giving to many charities and helping those in need. He loved his family and going to family events.
Bill is survived by his life long partner, Catherine Murray of Winchester. Loving father of Kimberly (Boulton) McCarthy, son-in-law Richard of North Attleboro. Beloved grandfather "Papa" to Adeline and Matthew. Dear brother to George and his wife Alice of Norwood and Patricia Dundulis of Lakewood Ranch, FL. He also leaves his nieces Katie (Cofsky) LeMaire and her husband Christophe and Kristin (Cofsky) Laverty and her husband Christopher, his nephews George "Butch" and his wife Margaret, James and his wife Christine, Thomas and his wife Karen, Michael and his wife Joan and John and his partner Gemma. Also survived by many cousins, great nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother Robert and niece Dyann Dundulis and JJ Dundulis.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021 from 9-11 a.m. at the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home 1248 Washington St. NORWOOD. A graveside service will follow visiting hours on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. at Highland Cemetery in Norwood. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bill's memory may be made to the American Heart Assoc.
