William P. Drummey, age 79, a lifelong resident of Norwood, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love, comfort, and care of family on the evening of Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Needham. He was the devoted and beloved husband to the late Carol A. (LaFerrara) Drummey, who passed away on January 3, 2025.
Born on March 23, 1946, in Norwood, Bill was the fifth of eight sons born to the late James J. Drummey, Sr. and Gertrude J. (Turner) Drummey. He was raised and grew up in Norwood and he was a graduate of Catholic Memorial High School in West Roxbury.
Bill had a nearly 40-year career working as a Custodian for the Norwood Housing Authority. He took great pride in caring for the Housing Authority properties.
A devout Catholic, Bill was a longtime parishioner at St. Catherine of Siena Parish. Prior to his career with the town, Bill worked as a sexton for the church ensuring it was kept in tip-top shape.
In his spare time, Bill enjoyed cheering for the Boston Red Sox and eating Brigham's chocolate chip ice cream. Above all, he was most happy with the time spent and memories made with his treasured family, especially his grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his cherished and proud daughter: Michelle G. Ioannides and her husband Richardson Marcelus of Norwood; his grandchildren: Destiny, Ariana, Alexia, and Aidan; his brothers: James Drummey, Jr. of Norwood, Brian Drummey of Heath, MA, David Drummey of Enfield, CT, Jeremiah Drummey of Norwood, and Mark Drummey of Norwood; and also countless nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
In addition to his wife and parents, Bill is preceded in passing by his siblings: Denis M. Drummey, Sr. and Robert Drummey.
Visiting hours will be held on TUESDAY, August 19, 2025, from 4:00pm-8:00pm at the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home 1248 Washington St., Norwood.
Bill’s funeral will begin at the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home on WEDNESDAY, August 20, 2025, at 10:00am followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00am in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 547 Washington St., Norwood.
Interment will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Roslindale, where Bill will be laid to rest with his dear wife.
