Zenaida M. Lalota, age 97, a longtime resident of Norwood, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday afternoon, June 18, 2026, surrounded by the love, comfort, and care of her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Francisco Lalota.

Born in Laguna, Philippines, Zenaida was the daughter of the late Patricio and Ynes (Cabralez) Melendrez. She was raised and educated in the Philippines.

In pursuit of the American Dream, Zenaida immigrated to the United States in 1990,first settling in Brookline, relocating to Jamiaca Plain, and eventually residing in Norwood, where she made her home for many years.

Zenaida was a proud homemaker who took great joy in caring for her home and her family. In her leisure time, she enjoyed socializing with friends and loved ones and watching her favorite television programs. Above all, Zenaida cherished the time she spent creating memories with her devoted family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving children: Nayda Lalota and her husband Robert of Norwood, Lyda Nolan and her husband Marc of Pittsfield, and Raye Lalota of Norwood. She was the devoted grandmother of Nina, Anjela, Joanna, Kris, Nick, Ivanna Limlengco, Irene, Juan Carlo, and Airo, and the caring great-grandmother of 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Zorayda Melendrez, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Zenaida was predeceased by her children, Ida Lalota-Llave and Zaida Lalota.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home, 1248 Washington Street, Norwood.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Timothy Catholic Church, 650 Nichols Street, Norwood.

Zenaida will be laid to rest at a later date in the Philippines.
